    The Noninvasive Measurement of Central Aortic Blood Pressure Waveform

    Central aortic pressure (CAP) is a potential surrogate of brachial blood pressure in both clinical practice and routine health screening. It directly reflects the status of the central aorta. Noninvasive measurement of CAP becomes a crucial technique of great interest. There have been advances in recent years, including the proposal of novel methods and commercialization of several instruments. This chapter briefly introduces the clinical importance of CAP and the theoretical basis for the generation of CAP in the first and second sections. The third section describes and discusses the measurement of peripheral blood pressure waveforms, which is employed to estimate CAP. We then review the proposed methods for the measurement of CAP. The calibration of blood pressure waveforms is discussed in the fourth section. After a brief discussion of the technical limitations, we give suggestions for perspectives and future challenges

    A nomogram based on genotypic and clinicopathologic factors to predict the non-sentinel lymph node metastasis in Chinese women breast cancer patients

    BackgroundSentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is the standard treatment for breast cancer patients with clinically negative axilla. However, axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) is still the standard care for sentinel lymph node (SLN) positive patients. Clinical data reveals about 40-75% of patients without non-sentinel lymph node (NSLN) metastasis after ALND. Unnecessary ALND increases the risk of complications and detracts from quality of life. In this study, we expect to develop a nomogram based on genotypic and clinicopathologic factors to predict the risk of NSLN metastasis in SLN-positive Chinese women breast cancer patients.MethodsThis retrospective study collected data from 1,879 women breast cancer patients enrolled from multiple centers. Genotypic features contain 96 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with breast cancer susceptibility, therapy and prognosis. SNP genotyping was identified by the quantitative PCR detection platform. The genetic features were divided into two clusters by the mutational stability. The normalized polygenic risk score (PRS) was used to evaluate the combined effect of each SNP cluster. Recursive feature elimination (RFE) based on linear discriminant analysis (LDA) was adopted to select the most useful predictive features, and RFE based on support vector machine (SVM) was used to reduce the number of SNPs. Multivariable logistic regression models (i.e., nomogram) were built for predicting NSLN metastasis. The predictive abilities of three types of model (based on only clinicopathologic information, the integrated clinicopathologic and all SNPs information, and integrated clinicopathologic and significant SNPs information) were compared. Internal and external validations were performed and the area under ROC curves (AUCs) as well as a series of evaluation indicators were assessed.Results229 patients underwent SLNB followed by ALND and without any neo-adjuvant therapy, 79 among them (34%) had a positive axillary NSLN metastasis. The LDA-RFE identified the characteristics including lymphovascular invasion, number of positive SLNs, number of negative SLNs and two SNP clusters as significant predictors of NSLN metastasis. Furthermore, the SVM-RFE selected 29 significant SNPs in the prediction of NSLN metastasis. In internal validation, the median AUCs of the clinical and all SNPs combining model, the clinical and 29 significant SNPs combining model, and the clinical model were 0.837, 0.795 and 0.708 respectively. Meanwhile, in external validation, the AUCs of the three models were 0.817, 0.815 and 0.745 respectively.ConclusionWe present a new nomogram by combining genotypic and clinicopathologic factors to achieve higher sensitivity and specificity comparing with traditional clinicopathologic factors to predict NSLN metastasis in Chinese women breast cancer. It is recommended that more validations are required in prospective studies among different patient populations

    MSLp: Deep Superresolution for Meteorological Satellite Image

    High-resolution meteorological satellite image is the basic data for weather forecasting, climate prediction, and early warning of various meteorological disasters. However, the poor image resolution is limited for both subjective and automated analyses. Through our investigation and study, we found that the meteorological satellite image is a kind of complex data with multimodal and multitemporal characteristics. Fortunately, based on zero-shot learning theory, the complexity of the meteorological satellite image can be used to enhance its own image resolution. In this work, we propose a novel framework called MSLp (Meteorological Satellite Loss phase). Specifically, we choose a zero-shot network as a backbone and propose a phase loss function. A mapping from low- to high-resolution meteorological satellite images was trained for improving the resolution by up to a factor of 4×. Our quantitative study demonstrates the superiority of the proposed approach over ZSSR and bicubic interpolation. For qualitative analysis, visual tests were performed by 7 meteorologists to confirm the utility of the proposed algorithm. The mean opinion score is 9.32 (the full score is 10). These meteorologists think that weather forecasters need higher-resolution meteorological satellite images and the high-resolution images obtained by our method have the potential to be a great help for weather analysis and forecasting

    Diabetic nephropathy is one of the most serious microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus, with increasing prevalence and mortality. Currently, renal function is assessed clinically using albumin excretion rate and glomerular filtration rate. But before the appearance of micro-albumin, the glomerular structure has been severely damaged. Glomerular filtration rate based on serum creatinine is a certain underestimate of renal status. Early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy has an important role in improving kidney function and delaying disease progression with drugs. There is an urgent need for biomarkers that can characterize the structural changes associated with the kidney. In this review, we focus on the early glomerular and tubular structural alterations, with a detailed description of the glomerular injury markers SMAD1 and Podocalyxin, and the tubular injury markers NGAL, Netrin-1, and L-FABP in the context of diabetic nephropathy. We have summarized the currently studied protein markers and performed bioprocess analysis. Also, a brief review of proteomic and scRNA-seq method in the search of diabetic nephropathy.</p

    Curdepsidones B–G, Six Depsidones with Anti-Inflammatory Activities from the Marine-Derived Fungus <i>Curvularia</i> sp. IFB-Z10

    Six new depsidones, curdepsidones B&#8722;G (1&#8722;6), were obtained from the marine-derived fungus Curvularia sp. IFB-Z10. Their planar structures were determined by comprehensive analysis of HRESIMS and 1D/2D-NMR data. The absolute configuration of curdepsidones B&#8722;C (1&#8722;2) were established by synergistic use of DFT/NMR (density functional theory/nuclear magnetic resonance) and TDDFT/ECD (time-dependent density functional theory/electronic circular dichroism) calculations. Partial isolated compounds were tested for their anti-inflammatory activities in Propionibacterium acnes-induced THP-1 cells. Curdepsidone C (2) displayed significant anti-inflammatory properties with an IC50 value of 7.47 &#177; 0.35 &#956;M, and reduced the P. acnes-induced phosphorylation levels of JNK and ERK in a dose-dependent mechanism.     Effect of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 on dielectric properties of BaTiO3 based ceramics

    In this work, Na 0.5Bi 0.5TiO 3 (NBT) was used to improve the high temperature dielectric properties of Nb, Co-doped BaTiO 3 (BT). Different x was selected (x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) to optimize the ratio of BT to NBT in (1 - x) BT-xNBT solid solution. The dielectric constant of the original X7R material is about 4900 at room temperature, decreasing to 2500 with NBT addition (x = 0.2). Of important is that the temperature stability was improved with dielectric constant variation being less than ±15% up to 160°C. 2011 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l

    Causal effects of gut microbiome on endometriosis: a two-sample mendelian randomization study

    Abstract Background Previous studies have shown observational associations between the gut microbiota and endometriosis; however, the causal nature of such associations remains unclear. This study aimed to analyze the genetic causal relationship between the two. Methods A gut microbiome genome-wide association study conducted by the MiBioGen consortium was used as exposure data, and summary statistics of endometriosis were obtained from the FinnGen consortium R8 release data. Inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger, weighted median, weighted model, and simple model analyses were applied to examine the causal relationship, and sensitivity analyses were conducted to validate the robustness of the results. Results The results showed that, out of 211 gut microbiome taxa, Clostridiales_vadin_BB60_group, Oxalobacteraceae, Desulfovibrio, Haemophilus, and Holdemania had protective effects on endometriosis, while Porphyromonadaceae and Anaerotruncus might contribute to the development of endometriosis. Heterogeneity and pleiotropy analyses confirmed the robustness of the results. Conclusion The two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis conducted in this study identified specific intestinal flora with a causal relationship with endometriosis at the genetic level, offering new insights into the gut microbiota-mediated development mechanism of endometriosis
